GR Gopinath is an Indian entrepreneur, the founder of Air Deccan, a retired Captain of the Indian Army, an author, and a politician. Gopi stepped into the army field when he was 20 years old and he was serving our nation for 8 years. Later, he decided to quit the army in order to start a business. To be noticed, he was part of the Bangladesh freedom war. Further, he was involved in silkworm cultivation which gave him a huge profit. Eventually, this led him to enter the motor pipe and hotel business.

In 1997, he became the co-founder of Deccan Aviation which provide helicopter travelling service. He also founded Air Deccan which provides an aeroplane travelling service. The best thing about this company is it offers a cheap cost for travelling. Unfortunately, Air Deccan faced a huge loss thus it results in a partnership with Vijay Mallya’s Kingfisher company. As an author, he released his first book in 2009 under the title Simply Fly. He also tried his best in politics by supporting Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party.

Life story of this business tycoon was released as biopic film titled as Soorarai Pottru where actor Surya plays the lead. He begins to go to school only at the age of 10.
