Eternals, directed by Chloé Zhao, is the film that introduced us to a whole new team of MCU heroes. Whatever reviews and reactions it received, the film was a great watch! Not one, two or three, but almost 10-11 heroes were introduced. That’s almost a dozen! For fun, we tried to rethink the cast of the Eternals if the movie was made in the 1980s. So, here’s a retro casting for the 2021 Eternals. We’re sure you won’t disagree with the casting. To look at! Some also resemble the face while others share the same personality trait.
1. Rita Morena as an invitation
Rita Morena was a respected actress from her Golden Age in Hollywood. She brought a great vibration to the screen when she appeared. So she would prove to be a perfect match to play Ajak, the Prime Eternal in the Eternals of the 80s. Eternals
2. Mel Gibson as Dane Whitman
Gibson would have been the first choice for Dane Whitman’s character. Mel would have been cast during his early days as an actor and would have been famous when the movie was out. The look of both matches well!
3. Marlee Matlin as Makkari
To portray Mekkari, Marlee Matlin would have been the first and only choice. Marlee is a natural, effortless actor who would convey strong emotions with the slightest facial gestures.
4. Timothy Hutton as Druig
Hutton would have portrayed the aloof Druig in the best possible way. Plus, Timothy Hutton and Marlee Matlin would have made a great couple.
5. Sho Kosugi as Gilgamesh
Of the entire cast of Eternals, Gilgamesh is considered one of the bravest characters. Sho Kosugi would have been the right choice to play Gilgamesh. In addition, his martial arts skills would have added the perfect action to the already existing action sequels.
6. Danny Glover as Phastos
One Eternal who doesn’t have enough screen time, but still manages to tell an emotional story to stand out, is Phastos. He is the Eternal who has a real bond with humanity. Like Bryan Tyree Henry, Danny Glover would have played the part extremely well and elevated the movie!
7. Anil Kapoor as Kingo
Sweetest character? bill. A character with one of the best backstories? bill. That’s Kingo for all of you. He has a backstory about becoming a Bollywood actor. So, who would have been cast to play Kingo? Anil Kapoor for sure! There are no more arguments for this.
8. Sigourney Weaver As Thena
Weaver has the right mix of toughness and fragility that defines Thena. Had the film been made in the 1980s, Sigourney would have been the first choice to play Thena. Plus, it wouldn’t hurt to take advantage of her fame in the 1980s.
9. Melanie Griffith as Sersi
Throughout the film, Sersi has been one of the most likeable and gentle characters. To properly portray this trait of hers, Melanie Griffith would have been the best choice. She seems tailor-made for the role!
10. Kurt Russell as Ikaris
Not only do they look identical, but personality-wise Kurt would also fit well with Ikaris’ character in the 80s movie. His shaggy looks and attitude proves to be the perfect ingredient for the dish! Also, let’s not deny that it would have been a great idea to leverage his fame for the film’s success. Eternals
